Here’s 7 pubs around the Goldfields to add to your itinerary for your next Goldfields adventure!

The Exchange Hotel, Kalgoorlie

One of two original pubs in town, the Exchange Hotel showcases the history of the gold mining outpost and was built in 1895. Since the change of ownership, the pub now encompasses the Wild West Saloon and Paddy’s Eat & Drink, two of Kalgoorlie’s iconic stop for travellers. It is family-friendly so you can bring the kids along to enjoy a meal off the modern pub menu.

Kalgoorlie Hotel, Kalgoorlie

Standing proud across the road from the Kalgoorlie Town Hall is the “best beer garden in town” at the Kalgoorlie Hotel, previously known as Judds. It was built in 1897 and is one of the oldest buildings in town. Head upstairs to the large balconies to experience the sweeping views of Kalgoorlie and amazing colourful sunsets in the evening. A family friendly establishment with a relaxed atmosphere and a band at night, plus a great outdoor area out the back.

Broad Arrow Tavern, north of Kalgoorlie

If you’re wanting to venture out to a pub with true Australian outback style, head to the Broad Arrow Tavern. This quintessential pub provides food, drink, and accommodation for visitors in the building built in 1896. Only 40 minutes from Kalgoorlie along the Goldfields Highway is worth it for the famous Broady Burger and a beer! Marvel over the walls covered in signatures of time gone by, however you can no longer scribe your name here.

Palace Hotel, Kalgoorlie

The Palace Hotel is an icon in Kalgoorlie and the perfect place for dinner. Book a spot on the balcony and watch the sunset over the main street. The pub offers accommodation, meals, and drinks Monday to Saturday, making it the perfect spot for lunch or dinner along your Goldfields journey.

The York Hotel, Kalgoorlie

Built in 1901, this Edwardian style pub has a gorgeous frontage right onto Hannan Street. Take a seat on the balcony of the York Hotel and watch the world go by, or in Winter grab a spot in front of the fire. Enjoy your favourite tunes with live music available most Friday nights, which is popular among locals and tourists alike so get there early for a table!

The Recreation Hotel, Boulder

Welcome to the Recreation Hotel or “The Rec” as the locals call it. This gorgeous outback pub has sprawling gardens out the back to enjoy a perfect Goldfields sundowner. Inside, the Front Bar has been refurbished and is the perfect place to indulge in a classic pub meal. You MUST try their Sheffield’s Wood Fired Pizza made by Joe from Sicily. Delicious!

Grand Hotel, Kookynie

Located on the Golden Quest Discovery Trail, north of Kalgoorlie, the Grand Hotel is known best for its resident horse, Willie, who turns up at 4pm every day for a drink! You might have to squeeze past him to grab yourself a cold drink, but it’s worth it for a real Aussie experience. Kookynie is a living gold rush town with now just 13 residents, so you’ll be in true outback style here!

Norseman Hotel

If you're heading down from the Goldfields to Esperance, or about to tackle the Nullarbor, the Norseman Hotel is a great place to stop for a meal or to rest your head for the night. Be sure to check out the Norseman Statue and Gallery of Splendid Isolation when you visit, do one of the walk trails or play a hole on the famous Nullarbor Links - the longest golf course in the world!
